Pulmonary Function Among Cotton Textile Workers
نویسنده
چکیده
Longitudinal variability in respiratory responses, ineluding symptom reporting and across-shift change in ventilatory function, were examined in relation to long-term loss of ventilatory function in a group of 447 cotton textile workers in Shanghai, China. The study used a standardized respiratory questionnaire and standardized spirometric testing before and after a work shift on the first day of the workweek. Prediction equations for FEY1 were generated from a group of silk textile workers from the same city. Environmental samples included both vertical elutriated cotton dust and endotoxin levels. There was considerable variability in symptom reporting between the baseline and 5-year follow-up survey for all symptoms. However, subjects who consistently reported symptoms had a significantly accelerated 5-year loss in FEY1 compared with those who never reported symptoms. Subjects with symptoms

Longitudinal pulmonary functional loss in cotton textile workers: A 5-year follow-up study
BACKGROUND Occupational exposure to cotton dust causes several diseases affecting the lungs, but only limited information is available on effects of long-term exposure. In this study, we aimed to evaluate longitudinal changes in selected parameters of pulmonary function in textile workers. MATERIAL AND METHODS This prospective cohort study began with 196 textile workers in 2006 and was comple...

OBJECTIVE To investigate chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) mortality among textile workers. METHODS A total of 267,400 Chinese female textile employees were monitored for COPD mortality from 1989 to 2000. Textile factories in the cohort were classified into 10 industrial sectors. Age-adjusted mortality, standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) and 95% CIs were calculated by sector. In ...

Abstract Background: Workers who exposed to cotton dust are at risk of some occupational lung diseases such as byssinosis and chronic bronchitis. In general respiratory symptoms like chronic cough, sputum and dyspnea are more common in cotton dust exposed workers. With continuous exposure, progression of disease and pulmonary dysfunction will happen. In this study, we assessed the effect of co...
متن کاملRespiratory Symptoms and Lung Function among Greek Cotton Industry Workers: A Cross-Sectional Study.
BACKGROUND Workers in cotton industry are occupationally exposed to various dust-related hazards. The nature of these agents and the respective exposure levels depend on the cotton industry specific sector. These exposures could be associated with respiratory symptoms and changes in lung function parameters. OBJECTIVE To evaluate associations between occupational exposure and respiratory func...
